Spanning 65 hectares in the south of Dortmund, Germany, the botanic garden Rombergpark is recognized as one of the world's largest botanical gardens.
The park's origins date back to 1822, when the noble von Romberg family commissioned landscape architect Maximilian Friedrich von der Weyhe to design an English-style landscape garden around Schloss Brünninghausen. In 1926, the City of Dortmund acquired the estate and transformed it into a municipal botanical garden featuring an extensive collection of rare trees and woody plants.
Today, the park features a vast arboretum, scenic ponds, a historic linden avenue, and four greenhouses showcasing tropical, subtropical, and desert plants.
